BOMA currently implements or provides technical assistance across seven countries: Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Chad, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso. In 2006 BOMA was officially registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States after an extensive period of research, travel, and coalition building. 99% of our staff are now based in Africa, led by Kenya-native Dr. Sam Owilly. READ MORE

We tackle extreme poverty head on through a multidimensional understanding of the problem, and with adaptive solutions that are built for long-term impact, long after formal program interventions end. After four years of implementing our original REAP model in Northern Kenya, BOMA refined its model design in 2011 to integrate key components of the poverty graduation approach, originally pioneered by the Bangladesh-based NGO BRAC. In 2018 BOMA partnered with BRAC’s Ultra-Poor Graduation Initiative to launch the PROFIT Financial Graduation program in Samburu country. READ MORE
