Our Solutions

Through our data-driven, technology-led approach to ending extreme poverty, we know that one size fits no one. Building off our standard model (REAP), we have designed solutions for the most acute challenges that communities face throughout the drylands of Africa. From climate change-induced famine to mass displacement, our adapted models seek to engage some of Africa’s biggest issues at their root, and we continue to rise to new challenges.

A holistic approach to ending extreme poverty in Africa's drylands

By taking a contextual approach to product and program design, we can face new challenges and ensure that our impact is long-lasting, cost effective, and most importantly, scalable. We are working with national governments and international organizations in Kenya and beyond to support the adoption of our graduation-based model with the goal of reaching +3M people by 2027.

Since BOMA was founded in 2006, we have been working to provide the people and governments of Africa’s drylands with economic inclusion programs that increase resilience to multiple crises. While our programming and technical assistance now reaches across seven countries, we exist for those not yet reached by traditional social protection and social safety net programming.

From Burkina Faso to Kenya, the challenges that face communities living throughout the dryland regions are complex and are only becoming more difficult with the onset of climate change, mass displacement caused by conflict and disasters, and record youth unemployment.

Through direct implementation, partnership with local organizations and governments, and by providing advisory services to nonprofit partners, we are building solutions that are tackling some of Africa’s more pressing issues at their root.
